Essay Competition

Like last year, this year too Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi is organizing an essay competition for the youth in Delhi and the National Capital Region. The essay competition is being held on the occasion of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. (1863-2013)

Considering the importance of Swami Vivekananda's message for the regeneration of the nation, in particular his appeal to the youth. the Govt. of India had declared his birth day, i.e. 12th January, as the National Youth Day. The 150th Birth Anniversary of Swamiji is fast approaching and the Prime Minister has formed a National Committee to celebrate the event across the country over the next four years.

This competition is one such effort in that direction.

Essay Competition 2011-2012

• All students from colleges and schools (Classes XI and XII) in Delhi and NCR are eligible to take part.
• The competition will be held in two rounds
• Round-one will be held at the Ramakrishna Mission premises on several days in January 2012.
• From all participants of Round-one, prizes will be awarded to five winners, and the top ten will qualify for the Final Round.
• The Final Round (Round-two) will be held at the Ramakrishna Mission premises towards early February 2012.
• All Essays will have to be written in English in about 1,000 words.
• The Essay Topics for both rounds will be given on the day of the competition and participants are supposed to write the essay on the spot.
• The topics will be closely related to the contents of a book to be distributed to the participants at the time of registration.
• The book is a compilation from the works of Swami Vivekananda titled "Awakening India"

How to take part

Those who are interested should do the following:-

• Contact the administrative office at your college/school for a copy of the brochure and the registration form.
• In case the brocure is not available at the college office, you will need to collect it from the office at Ramakrishna Mission, Paharganj, New Delhi or you can download the brouchure and the registration form by clicking below.

• The brochure gives the details of the competition.
• The registration form, duly filled, should be submitted at the Ramkrishna Mission, New Delhi.
• Each participant will also get a book titled "Awakening India" at the time of registration.

Prizes (Round I)

From all participants of Round one, the following five prizes will be given to the winners.

1. Rs. 3,000/-
2. Rs. 2,500/-
3. Rs. 2,000/-
4. Rs. 1,500/-
5. Rs. 1,000/-

Prizes (Round II)

The following five prizes will be given to the winners of the Final Round.

1. Rs. 15,000/-
2. Rs. 12,000/-
3. Rs. 10,000/-
4. Rs. 7,500/-
5. Rs. 5,000/-
